Hair Loss During Menopause…How to Fix it

 (00:00)
Dr. Tabatha: If you're noticing more hair in your brush, thinning at your temples, or a widening part—you’re not alone. Millions of women experience hair loss during menopause. But the good news? You don't have to accept it. Today, we're diving into what's really causing it… and how to fix it.

(00:36)
Dr. Tabatha: So, what exactly happens to our hormones during menopause that leads to hair thinning? First off, when estrogen drops, it impacts our entire body—especially our hair. Estrogen is a growth hormone. It helps our hair and skin grow, and when it declines, thinning starts.

(01:13)
Dr. Tabatha: But here's something most women don’t realize—we also make testosterone. It’s our get-stuff-done hormone. If you’re seeing temple thinning or male pattern baldness, it might not be low testosterone—it could be how your body is metabolizing it.

(01:45)
Dr. Tabatha: Hair loss can often be reversed. It’s not always just about hormones. Sometimes, it’s inflammation. If your body is inflamed, the hair follicle might release the hair. That’s why we look deeper—inflammation, thyroid, gut health, hormone pathways—everything is connected.

(02:57)
Dr. Tabatha: Let’s talk about stress and cortisol. This is a big one. If you’ve been through a stressful event, hair loss doesn’t usually happen right away. It shows up 2–3 months later. That’s because of the hair growth cycle—growth, transition, and resting phases. Stress disrupts that cycle.

(04:11)
Dr. Tabatha: The key is managing inflammation and supporting your body’s ability to heal. That could mean looking at gut health, trauma, illness, or ongoing stressors. You can get control of it. I’m living proof—I healed my gut, corrected nutrient deficiencies, and my hair came back better than ever.

(05:26)
Dr. Tabatha: Ready for solutions? First, know this: one of the most common causes of hair loss in women over 40 is thyroid dysfunction. Not because your thyroid’s broken—but because it’s responding to your environment. If your body’s in survival mode, the thyroid conserves energy by skipping “non-essential” things like hair growth.

(07:12)
Dr. Tabatha: Work with a provider who evaluates your thyroid, not just tests it. Conventional doctors often just check TSH—a brain hormone. But real evaluation requires seven different labs: TSH, total and free T4, total and free T3, reverse T3, and two thyroid antibodies. That’s how we get the full picture.

(09:34)
Dr. Tabatha: What about foods and supplements? The best foods are “Faith Foods”—the ones God made. Animal products, vegetables, fruits. These are rich in protein, collagen, vitamins, minerals—everything your hair needs. Worst foods? Processed junk. “Frankenfoods” full of inflammatory oils that drive hair loss.

(11:32)
Dr. Tabatha: Most hair loss is linked to vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Even healthy food lacks the nutrients it used to have because our soil is so depleted. That’s why I created Hormone Tame—a complete multivitamin with antioxidants. I also recommend Omega Lift for healthy fats and Hair and Beauty Lift to help with testosterone metabolism.
